Well said. Be grateful in all things, especially family and friends. There will be a day when time for work no longer exists. Our relationships are the most important "possessions" we have, no matter where life's journey takes us.
You’re navigating big transitions and losses with so much awareness. Gratitude isn’t always easy, but the fact that you return to it at all says so much about your strength. Keep sharing these tiny sunrises.
Professor- I am happy to refer to you as professor if I may? As look up to you and your beautiful writings-kind of an erkal vision in my head with high waisted pants.
I’m delighted to have found you and to witness in this piece that I am not the only one with a chorus of voices behind my writing. Peace and Coffee (coffee much?)
Jennifer, I enjoyed this foray into a dialog with oneself. I have them, too. Of course, mine are never as "deep" as this one. But they are a nifty literary device! Thanks.
About the belt metaphor: That was fun! It got me to thinking about how the sunsets move around the earth, appearing different depending on the gawker's location. Now there's the idea of perspective!
Thanks, John! I am glad you enjoyed it. In my covert conversations are never this clear or long, but it is a fun device to explore some themes — and things we all do! Thanks again!
Maybe that sunset in Carolina was gorgeous-er than here in Virginia...sigh. I rarely get photos here, because my view is usually to the east. Now, sunrises... there's something from my perspective!

I love that, relationships as possessions. That is an interesting metaphor to ponder. And you’re right, there the only real thing that exists! ❤️ 💕

Lovely haiku! I think we all have self-dialogue. It’s nice to see someone articulate it so clearly!

Thank you for sharing that. Lovely to sit and read something so beautiful on a Sunday.

Oh, and I am glad you liked the belt metaphor! That it made sense, how we all see it differently! Perspective shift, yes!!

Gratitude occupies the time and space that longing and regret occupy.
So true – I decided, long ago to have nothing to do with regret.
Without the heartache and losses I've suffered, I wouldn't be where I am now, which is a happy place x
