Oof. I was considering not sending this to subscribers and simply linking it in my next post, which will be a welcome post explaining the types of writing to expect from me. (I would’ve written a welcome at the beginning, but I didn’t yet know what I was doing here.) Already lost two subs from this email and it’s not even been up 30 min! 😢 🤦‍♀️ [leaves computer, knowing this is a silly worry, others will stay, but still a little discouraged anyway.]

Ahh I can relate on so many levels- as an academic, as someone who spent decades chasing a dream only to discover that it’s an illusion, and as an aspiring and evolving writer. Looking forward to connecting!

This was lovely to read, I always find it interesting to understand the motivations that move people to share their writings. Thank you! Keep up the radical behaviourist writing lens!

Thanks, Francesca. Yes, I’ve shared these motivations across the years, in different posts on my Facebook writing page, but never in one place, never for complete strangers, so I appreciate the kind words. I will certainly keep it up! Years of momentum is hard to stop! 🙏 Glad you’re joining me.

I loved reading this Jennifer! This is Lesley Anne. I was convinced to join stubstack (just to read, not post) from a new friend I met at an art exhibit. I just love your voiceover too. So excited to support your journey!

Oh, and this is a great place for readers! I’m continually impressed (and humbled) by how many smart, talented writers there are in the world. It takes time to find the right mix of people to follow, so be sure to explore!

I’m an artist my nature and love expression and calm expression of poetry and art. Some of the other social media spaces seem to be much more saturated with the fast paced nature that overstimulates alot of the senses. I’m so thankful for your unwavering kindness! I’m going to be here, and will fiddle around some. I’ll be following and supporting your journey. Maybe I will post something here and there :)

Thank you so much for reading!! I’m so glad you’re here! It’s a great app. Took me several months to find a footing but it was (and will be) worth it, I think. Thanks for listening to my voiceover! It’s the first one I did, and it doesn’t give you an option to pause or back up, so I had to do three takes, as I kept misspeaking. Finally, after the 3rd take, I was like, they can just tolerate the mistakes! 😆 glad to hear you liked it!

Be unapologetically you, even if it means losing some subscribers... you'll gain more because of your authenticity.

Thanks for the induction to Skinner. I know CBT has roots in stoic philosophy, and interested in learning more about radical behaviorism. And I liked the personal essay portion even more, thank you for sharing your story here. Happy Writing Jennifer! 🤠🤙

Thanks, MJ! Happy to make that introduction! Yes, some stoic philosophy roots or similarities in CBT but also a few roots in Radical Behaviorism, though the disciples diverge when it comes to causation and explanations. So glad you’re here. Thank you for the encouragement! 🙏
